The Republicans had a great opportunity here. Hillary was a weak candidate and she had a whole bunch of baggage. If the GOP has picked someone reasonably sane with a economic plan that made sense, it would had made the election a cakewalk. Hillary was probably the most beatable candidate the Democrats put up in years.

­RR was an extremely popular guy; movie star, and Governor.  It would be link Clint Eastwood (pre-chair incident would have won him all 50 States, post probably 49 States) or Arnold "I'll Be Back" Schwarzenegger running (if he was allowed.)  As long as they were Republican, that's enough apparently, they would get the Rep vote.  but due to their popularity they would have appealed to Dems.  Hence a blow out.

The repubs could win on a few simple ideas. Trump has some of these, but then he went off on the "Hillary for Jail" bullshit.

1. A guest worker program limited to agriculture jobs. Weed out the criminals. Pay them a decent wage. Stop the abuses. When they are done, send them home. OUT!
2. Tighten the H1B program. No more "train your replacement or no severance" bullshit. Stop firing American workers. Up the budget for retraining for American Citizens.
3. Pot legalization by the feds. Get the DEA to focus on meth and shit drugs. Leave the potheads alone. Tax the shit out of it. 
4. No more stupid wars. Bring the troops home. We're done. 
5. Get the fuck out of the Middle East. Get Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos on the phone.  Up our energy efficiency We'll get our oil from Venezuela and Mexico. Fuck the Saudis. 
6. True healthcare reform. It doesn't have to be free, but stop with the 600 epipen shit. 
7. True Wall St. reform. We don't want to put the banks out of business, but stop the shit that Wells Fargo was pulling. MMmmmkay? You rip off American citizens, you go to PRISON! No exceptions! Put the banksters on notice. 
8. Fix the broken bridges and infrastructure. If we can afford an overpriced fighter plane program, we can afford new roads. 
9. Hire more good cops. Fire the psychopaths who shoot little dogs for fun. Pay them well. 
10. Prison reform. Stop locking up stoners. Save those cells for the gang bangers and child abusers and rapists. 
11. Cut a deal with the Russians. We both hate terrorists. Agree to stop hacking and fucking with each other and team up to kill ISIS and Al Queda. 
12. Reform the VA. Get the troops proper health care. Again, if we can afford overpriced war toys, this should be pretty cheap.
