 Standing around in the open makes you a good target. I ran Richie Richvale off Posted 10/17/2016 3:58 pm
If that's the case, then why are they standing around still and haven't been picked off? I ran Richie Richvale off Posted 10/17/2016 3:59 pm
By the way, I just noticed these are Peshmerga and not Iraqi Army.

There are a couple of feeds of the Iraqi National Army, including this one of a car with a suicide bomber detonating next to an IGF tank: https://twitter.com/K24English/status/787990908868431872 I ran Richie Richvale off Posted 10/17/2016 4:16 pm

Rudaw is a Kurdish media network, so it makes sense that they would be showing that. I ran Richie Richvale off Posted 10/17/2016 4:21 pm
I guess I haven't been paying attention, are the Kurds and Iraqi Army aligned and coordinating? Or are they doing their own thing but staying out of everyone's hair? Reverb Queen Posted 10/17/2016 4:33 pm
It's basically Iraqi National Army, Iraqi Kurdistan and the Combined Joint Task Force (US and UK based in Kuwait) and France vs. ISIL. Unregistered Posted 10/17/2016 4:47 pm
Fuck. Nuke 'em all and get rid of this shitshow. One big parking lot.
Reverb Queen Posted 10/17/2016 5:00 pm
So if we do that, where does it stop? Should we just blow up everyone we don't like? Unregistered Posted 10/17/2016 5:06 pm
Why not? What's wrong with it? It's a time honored tradition among the talking apes. Reverb Queen Posted 10/17/2016 5:27 pm
It's so bloody complicated it's hard to follow, and it shifts all the time. Basically the Iraqi Army and Kurds are united for the war on ISIS, ostensibly because the UK, US and France and some other players in the game arm support them. That will all possibly change when ISIS is "defeated" and the Kurds and Iraq go at it again. There's a combined task force led by the US and UK that's part of US Central Command running something called Operation Desert Panty Shield or something like that; that is aimed at ridding both Syria and Iraq of ISIS and trying to eliminate them. Assuming they wipe them out in Syria and Iraq, there are still smaller ISIS threats in Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeris and a few other countries, and they have the capacity to inspire attacks worldwide. Syria is a clusterfuck. It's essentially Assad + Russia + Iran + Hezbollah + a bunch of Baathist groups vs the FSA + Turkey + Saudi Arabia + France + the US vs ISIS vs the Kurds and their allies so it's complex. Time to :nuke:

I think the Kurds will get screwed on this one. Part of the reason they are emerging here is that they want a Kurdish nation, and so they're helping get rid of ISIS so they can lay claim to some turf. After ISIS is gone the Iraqis and Syrians or whosever left will probably run them off. Unregistered Posted 10/17/2016 10:59 pm Unregistered Posted 10/17/2016 11:37 pm
