http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2015/11/25/rojava_is_a_radical_experiment_in_democracy_in_northern_syria_american_leftists.html

- Constitution encompasses gender equality and religious freedom

- Every position in every level of government includes a female equivalent of equal power

-Recruits to Rojava’s 6,000-strong police force receive their weapons only after two weeks of feminist instruction

I read it.  What does that have to do with American leftists like yourself being too weak and cowardly to join the fight?

Nothing much.  I've been watching the Kurds for years.

Then you'd also understand that the type of libertarian municipalism in Western Kurdistan is actually closer to early American forms of government; i.e. the Committees of Correspondence that existed before the American Revolution.

Sorry, that was my post.  I got banned again, and it took a couple of minutes to get around it.

I also understand that our NATO ally in the region, Turkey has had an ongoing fight with the PKK since the mid-70s.  For that reason, Turkey doesn't trust anything associated with PKK or the Kurds in general, having had centuries of problems with them.

For better or worse, the US is stuck with Turkey because they have the largest force in Nato next to our own.

As far as Rojava is concerned, it's going to boil down to mere survival.

Turkey also massacred thousands of Kurds, banned use of the Kurdish language, destroyed Kurdish villages, arrested and tortured thousands of them, murdered Kurdish journalists...so I'm pretty sure there's a reason the PKK came into being. Their problems with the Kurds began long before the 1970's.

Turkey has been condemned by numerous human rights organizations for human rights abuses of various kinds.  They've moderated somewhat to get approval to join the EU.

This may be true, but, again, we're stuck with the Turks as allies (As long as either country is a member of Nato).  This is the price we pay for our interventionist policies in the ME; support any faction or country and all the rest hate your guts.

I feel for the Kurds but their situation is shit.  The only reason they survive is that their fighters are skilled and highly dedicated.

This is all bullshit! NATO is bullshit, if the USA wants anything done we will have to do it.

Mostly, we need those other countries to stick our bases in.

The only thing I learn from reading this thread is that Mascara is too weak to join the fight in Rojova.

America has been an interventionist nation since the 1st and 2nd Barbary Wars, largely due to piracy.
