Cities with higher costs of living, such as New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Chicago, may have higher salary ranges for sanitation workers compared to cities with lower costs of living. However, it's important to note that these figures are approximate and can change over time.

That may or may not be the case. In some places it may be true. In others not. Alternatively it may be universally true or universally untrue. Further possibilities cannot be ruled out.

They can only work until their 40s because it wrecks your body.

You can get a pension after 20 years, but you need it because you're living with pain and limited mobility for the rest of your life

Of course, these jobs are what contributes to the 'wage gap" that feminists complain about

DSNY jobs in NYC are coveted. There is a lot of overtime for snow removal and road salting and a lot of time they are called in for storms that don’t happen or aren’t much of anything so they get paid OT for doing nothing. For garbage collection when they finish their routes they go home so they aren’t even working an 8 hour day.

I knew this goombah who worked at Barone Sanitation near Satriellis in Jersey. That guy never showed up but still collected a paycheck.
