A dilettante is a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge. It can also refer to a person with an amateur interest in the arts. The term originally meant "lover of the arts" but began to take on a negative connotation as the idea of doing something professionally became more important. Today, the word implies that someone is pretending to be more knowledgeable or skilled than they actually are.

I just finished re-reading "'Salem's Lot" by Stephen King.

Most enjoyable.

And I HATE dilettantes!  Can't stand them.

If there's one thing I can't stomach, it's a big fat phony!

I absolutely LOATHE Stephen King.  He made the mistake of constantly publicizing his moronic Leftist viewpoints.

I also find his books to be rather tedious with similar characters, similar locations, similar motivations, and repetitive plots.

TL:DR; when America admitted the Gramsci-addled kike perverts of the Frankfurt School, then destroyed the only regime capable of identifying and expunging their filth, society was doomed.

I'm reading Pandora's Star by Peter Hamilton. Great book but it suffers from Hamilton's usual bloat. This one is about 900 pages.

I finished A Tale of Two Cities just before this. Might read another Dickens novel after. I'm working on reading all of them (4 down so far).

- the bible
- the art of the deal

I'm reading this.  Overall, it's been a pretty good series.  Fortunately, my Russian language skills are not rusty and I was able to understand many of the Русские фразы.

Nobody who reads book like that would waste his time on a redboard.
