The Russians rely on the dumbest and easiest weapon, three types of MLRS inaccurate "artillery".  There's no spotting a target (and the coordination that'd ensue), just mad-dog random hits.  There's no elite equipment waiting in the wings.  It's just dumb and corrupt weapons, for a dumb and corrupt cancer (country).

In Soviet Russia, pessimist says "things couldn't possibly possibly get any worse"... Russian optimist says "Yes they can!!!"

The elite forces (VDV - Russian paratroops), were decimated a year ago trying to take the airports around Kiev.  What's left runs a spectrum from regular troops to resentful conscripts to completely undisciplined future cannon fodder ex-prisoners.
