­Americans think that escalating violations of the shitty controls and customer service of private companies to public law enforcement is a completely acceptable use of public resources and the government's monopoly on force.  Southwest calls the police on customers who ask questions they find inconvenient and the police are happy to oblige by violating their rights.  Hertz has customers' homes raided by SWAT teams because their inventory system says they're car thieves.  And now, Dollar General gets a dragnet because they're too fucking cheap to hire actual human beings and can't deal with the shrinkage caused by bad self-checkouts.
