Topic: The Truth About the Russian Aircraft Carrier Kusnetsov

Whoa, the Russian navy isn’t doing too well. And remember, this is their ONLY carrier & they’ve been trying to get it right for 30 years.  And they STILL haven’t figured out how to develop Catapult Assisted Take-Off for their carrier. Their carrier is a “banana boat” where aircraft gain lift by flying off of a lip at the end of the deck - very primitive.

The ski jump can work well.  It's on the UK's latest QE 2 carriers.

It significantly reduces the number of sorties that can be launched in a wartime setting.  It also reduces the different types of aircraft that can be launched because of the lower speeds the lip affords and, hence, the reduced amount of lift that’s attained.

And it looks retarded like something from a bygone era before technological innovation came up with something much better.

Newsflash: I served on a US carrier that didn't have a catapult.  The ski jump would have been better than VTOL, which uses up a retarded amount of fuel.

Look up the Wasp-class.

Wasp and her sisters are not aircraft carriers, they are amphibious assault ships.  If you really served aboard her, you'd know that.

I read that they never built port side power connections for it, so for the last 30 years, even while in port, its had to run its engines to generate electricity.

So they're worn out and fucked after 30 years of running without a break

And that's not even considering Russian build quality and maintenance to begin with
