Ocean View used to be a pretty rough place back in the day. You had the Jolly Roger, which was Hells Angels territory, the Sportsman Bar which was a Southern Riders hangout, Doc's Pizza, the Thirsty Camel, Connie's (a titty bar) and Greenies.
With the Thirsty Camel taking a hit, that's pretty much the end of what were once the "old and dirty" Ocean View landmarks. No character left, just strip malls, roach motels, and flimsy overpriced Judy Boone McMansions on the waterfront side. BUT. It may be hard for some people to hear, but, places like the Thirsty Camel and Greenies were built, and adapted, and renovated outside of modern fire safety standards. They were literal fire traps, and people who take it personally enough to stand on the curbside crying should thank whatever higher power protects them from not being victims of another The Station (the Rhode Island venue where Great White started a fire with pyrotechnics that killed 99 people). The places, all owned by the Boones, were out of code, had occupancy violations up the wazoo, and were something bad waiting to happen. Watch the footage of the Thirsty Camel -- that bitch went up quick. It may have had help, but a cinder block building with a wooden understructure and layers of tar over paper and tin roofing never had a chance. Now think what would have happened had the usual crowd had been inside -- the fire was reported at 1:30 am, and the place's closing time was 2:15 prior to a few weeks ago and the shutdown order. Some years ago I used to live on First View. The Boones, including Ronnie's daddy, were crooks and slumlords from day one. Their son "owns" (read: it's in his name just to keep the ABC license, being as that his daddy is a convicted federal offender) the Thirsty Camel. I would not put insurance fraud past any of them based on past history and all of their criminal malfeasance getting hand waved (up until recently, how's the federal prison life treating you, Ronnie?) by their political and judicial connections. I firmly believe that they are cocky enough to do something, since Ronnie's shenanigans led to a good sized hit to the family wallet, and playing with matches sounds just about right. I LOVE how the ATF has been called in. No amount of bribery is going to save any of their conniving asses if probable cause is established against them. Local yes, federal -- ask Ronnie what happens when you play footsie with a federal judge who doesn't give the first fuck who you are. I'm waiting to see what fresh legal hell comes out of this. 99.9 of confirmed arson cases always start in the kitchen.

Are the ((Boones)) Jews?

I'm sure there are some Matzoh crumbs floating around in Judy's blood, yeah.

The sad thing about this, and believe me I do not like any of the Boones whatsoever, is that they have been so shitty and manipulative towards the blue-collar residents of Ocean View over the years that even if this was an accident, there will always be suspicion that they "had something to do with it."

The Thirsty Camel was demolished less than 24 hours after the fire started, because of "structural instability presenting a delay in the investigation".
:hmmm: Arson detection dogs can find traces in burned out environments that are just as barren as the surface of the moon. \ :beagle: :fag: Unregistered Posted 4/21/2020 9:55 pm
Thread boring. I'm gonna go take a shit.

Who knows? MuhDik Mikey once threatened to burn down the city of Norfolk when he was trying to incite riots over the Raymond Chandler incident, so maybe he was feeling a bit arson-ish last week and decided to flame the Thirsty Camel.
Or the VA Calico Cat of Willoughby decided a life of feline luxury in a pet sanctuary was better than having to deal with Cat Turds Rovenolt set the blaze in an effort to incriminate a lazy asshole who can't even keep a cat box tidy. Unregistered Posted 4/22/2020 11:15 pm
But CHARLES THE DOG?
Unregistered Posted 4/22/2020 11:18 pm
Yeah...John Rovenolt DOES live in that area....but I can't find any reviews where he gave the Thirsty Camel a one star over homophobic Trump Supporters or shit smeared on a toilet seat
Yet another opportunity in life wasted by this shithead. Unregistered Posted 4/22/2020 11:30 pm
I think Charles the Dog is dead now. It's been almost three years since anything was mentioned about him in the local media. After the last court case involving the dog, he was immediately sent to live on a farm belonging to one of his owner's family members as part of an out of court agreement over a dog bite. IIRC he was pushing about ten years old then.
His owner Daniel Painter did wind up losing his landscaping business. Irresponsible bastard. Couldn't care properly for his dog and couldn't avoid drinking up profits and rent money. Unregistered Posted 4/23/2020 5:12 pm
