We almost went bankrupt bailing out the banks in 2008 without free healthcare and free tuition but with federal bailouts for speculators. Unregistered Posted 1/23/2016 1:40 pm
If you want to study something useful like engineering, computer science or medicine and you have high enough grades and test scores to get into a competitive program, that should be free. Want to go to trade school and become a mechanic or a plumber and you have the aptitude for it, no charge for that.
Have crappy grades in high school and want a degree in Gender Studies. Go to a private school and pay for it yourself. Put it on your credit card if your bank is stupid enough to let you, but no government subsidized loans at all. No waterparks or fancy dorms at the Universities either. Use your own money to party. That's the problem with you Socialists... the cost can't be zero. The government will funnel even more money at the issue, and that will only increase the costs. The more easily money flows into an event, the more that event will end up costing, since the people owning the event and arranging the event are always greedy and will take more money if they can get it from their demands. So if Sanders made "college free" then that would only mean the colleges and universities would feed off of a stream of public money which would double the 'costs' per student. You only believe that's good since poor people won't 'see' those costs. But every taxpayer will. In spades. And here's another thing: College still won't be 'free'. The gas to get to college won't be free. The books won't be free. The meals and housing won't be free. Some extra fees will always be laid directly upon the student. For example, when I went to college, I went while in the National Guard, hence I got a "tuition wavier" for attending a state university. Sounds great, right? Except by the time I was using that waiver, the tuition for each semester was $X and the set of fees applied on each semester were close to $X. In other words, the university doubled the cost of attending university via "fees", probably to make up for all the people who had tuition waivers, and in fact for all the people whose tuition was paid so easily by other people. Greed will always rule. This is a Human truth. Hence making college 'free' will only drive up costs beyond what's already being done. It will SHIFT costs, true, but costs will still RISE. No, it would make a high school diploma or GED worthless. Employers will progressively expect employees across the scale to have a college degree. College will just become a 4-yr extension of high school, hence the new minimum requirement to have a job in the United States. Unregistered Posted 1/23/2016 4:28 pm
You don't seem to understand that the main push for "free college" is from the Liberals who tend to get the useless socialist degrees. Your plan can't work. In fact, trade schools will undoubtedly be EXCLUDED from the "free college" plan. Unregistered Posted 1/23/2016 4:32 pm
So it will work if trade schools are included. Unregistered Posted 1/23/2016 5:22 pm
Education obviously has failed you. I don't believe we need more educated scum like yourself , funded by people who actually produce something of value for Americans. Unregistered Posted 1/23/2016 5:24 pm
And the epitomy of that education is posting here. Worthless. Unregistered Posted 1/23/2016 5:26 pm
...created by highly educated people. I agree our war economy sucks. |
