Topic: Bernie Sanders wants college to be free for

This may seem great at a glance but what this really boils down to is more education, more work, for students. That also means greater expectation. "Well, if it's 'free', you better get in there and do it" says future parents around the country.

More complex societies (as if industrial society isn't complex enough without advanced technologies) demand more complex knowledge which demands more education, more dedication and more work. All that leads to more stress. More, more, more.

I really feel bad for today's, and especially tomorrow's younger generations.

"Socialism: and "Democratic Socialism" are two entirely different entities.  Mutually exclusive.

America really only needs a fraction of the college-educated people that it currently has. Given the tremendous cost of college today, it really isn't an economically viable approach for most.

Fortunately, we have a significant number of wealthy families that CAN afford to put their kids through school without financial hardship, and without burdening their graduating children with extraordinary debt.

It only makes sense to discontinue this wasteful expenditure in student-loans programs and such, and just let those in our country who can truly and easily afford the top academic institutions, be the ones that fill the roles that require such high educational requirements.

The vast amount of money that is currently squandered providing partial funding for college to those who genuinely have no business being there, or who can't afford the entire package to begin with, would be far better spent providing them with vocational training in some trade field, as an electrician, or plumber, or carpenter.

You can have free education or you can have 20 of those new subs that each have 40 nuclear warheads capable of killing 400MM chinese.

You idiots would rather have the subs than the education, even though we cannot win a single war against shit countries like Iraq and Syria.

You people should get out more.  The rest of the world has good cheap health care and nearly free education.  But......we're number 1.  Look at our shiny toys of death.

Nope.  Both are socialism.  Same with National Socialism.  Socialism is socialism.  Any socialism is socialism.

we're in the middle of a huge education bubble, fueled by excessive parental spending and truly massive student borrowing.

sanders then wants to add more subsidy to this mess. therefore the costs of education will truly guycocket and the federal and state budgets will get loaded with more billions in spending, which will only be made up with borrowing.

sanders is an idiot and anyone who takes him seriously is also an idiot.

FULLY PAID FOR BY IMPOSING A TAX ON WALL STREET SPECULATORS.

The cost of this $75 billion a year plan is fully paid for by imposing a tax of a fraction of a percent on Wall Street speculators who nearly destroyed the economy seven years ago. More than 1,000 economists have endorsed a tax on Wall Street speculation and today some 40 countries throughout the world have imposed a similar tax including Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland, and China. If the taxpayers of this country could bailout Wall Street in 2008, we can make public colleges and universities tuition free and debt free throughout the country.

They say the speculation in the past was bad so they are going to tax it in the future. LOL at the idiocy.

Emergency! Federal student loans are driving up the cost of tuition!
\
:repub:

Making tuition free would eliminate the need for federal student loans and stop the price increase.

Do you really believe that?

You really believe government will quit making weapons to help educate people?

Governments will continue to produce mass-killing machines. That's one of government's central purposes. Without these big scary weapons government would have no reason to exist to "protect" you. It's a central aspect of government leverage.

Besides, they have already built tons of these things.

Not to mention nuclear power plants -- which we continue to construct despite spending -- are ticking nuclear time bombs.

MAKE TUITION FREE AT PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

This is not a radical idea. Last year, Germany eliminated tuition because they believed that charging students $1,300 per year was discouraging Germans from going to college. Next year, Chile will do the same. Finland, Norway, Sweden and many other countries around the world also offer free college to all of their citizens. If other countries can take this action, so can the United States of America. In fact, it’s what many of our colleges and universities used to do. The University of California system offered free tuition at its schools until the 1980s. In 1965, average tuition at a four-year public university was just $243 and many of the best colleges – including the City University of New York – did not charge any tuition at all. The Sanders plan would make tuition free at public colleges and universities throughout the country.

That would effectively make college worthless.

Government is a global institution, a global network. The leaders are essentially contemporaries, buddies, not enemies.

They act as though they are at odds but they really aren't. It is all an elaborate ploy to exploit and maintain control of the masses. Divide and conquer.

The masses fight and die in wars the leaders create for their own advantage and entertainment.

The gullible, brainwashed masses buy in to this ploy and even defend it with their lives.
