Yes, BUT....because the turkey is so cold, you will need extra oil in the pot. Fill the cooking pot all the way up to about an inch from the top when you heat it up before putting the turkey in.

Yes, as long as you stick your hand in the frier and swish the grease around a little first. The real danger with deep drying turkeys is stagnant grease.
