What a great work.   So terrifying and sad in so many ways  :sadwave:

This is very well done -  a little documentary and then the whole performance.

I hate what the Soviets put their people through, and if the Largo does not make you cry you have no fucking soul  :sadwave:

is this the one that had to be rewritten on orders from the Soviet government or maybe even Stalin himself?

He had to write a piece that would redeem him in the eyes of the authorities - watch the link from the beginning it is all explained.

But the 3rd movement Largo is an in your face requiem for the millions Stalin murdered.   And Dmitri got away with it.

If you ever wondered what the boots of TYRANNY sound like put to music, he did it in the 1st and 4th movements.

And the Soviet monitor dipshits that could have had him exiled or executed thought it sounded patriotic

Thank God they did not kill him like they did so many others like him - he went on and left us much more high musical art to enjoy.

Good work, but the cumshot sonata is a little bit over the top.
