Old one was Samsung, but it died so I want something else. Does Sony still make displays?

ACER supposedly makes decent ones.

It's all gonna be rebranded. There are only a handful of companies who actually make the panels.

ASUS is flooding the market with cheap displays, but their quality seems to be sub-par.

Dell displays actually ARE good.

I have an LG 27EA83R that has been excellent too.

LG panels are generally well regarded. A lot of Dells use them.

I was extremely pleased with my Samsung. Very good reviews, supposedly the best display. I watch football and TV on it too.

My old Samsung crapped out after about 5 years. Seeing as how I still have an absolutely ancient NEC sitting around that still works, that's crap.

Sony.  Best monitors out there.

I'd have to agree.  I've had Samsung monitors that lasted forever.  I'd probably get a Sony because I'm partial to them, but Samsungs last forever and are trouble-free.

I don't think Sony even makes monitors anymore.

And Samsungs are not very reliable. Just Google "samsung monitor repair" for an idea of how widespread the problems are.

 Sony still makes monitors...

I am just used to working on MacBooks so I don't have the need for a monitor.  I've always had either Sony or Samsungs...both are pretty reliable.

It depends on what you are doing really, and how much you want to spend.

Not a bad panel for the price, actually. The single and only HDMI input would be a deal breaker for some folks though.

Not consumer models. You linked broadcast reference monitors.

And the only LCD one listed is a crappy TN panel.

If you want a Japanese brand, try Eizo.

If your monitor did not include an individual calibration certificate, WAYSA?

Well how much do you want to spend? I tend to buy things that are good for graphics and UX design, things like that.
Like I said, it really depends upon what you are using it for.
