Because Audi owners are fags who drive their cars "responsibly".

No sane person will want one out of warranty.
These cars will vanish from the road rapidly.

a bmw reset tool was like $100 back then. You still need to do service 1, service 2 , or whatever fucks all these "inspection" really are.
In short, you are fucked and there is not much you can do about it.

Only if you buy used.
A 1975 - 1990 Mercedes E-class diesel can be had for $5K - $12K depending on condition, and is a MUCH better car than anything you can buy new today.

A 1988 Mercedes E-class diesel engine with 400,000 miles on it is likely to be in better condition than a 2008 Toyota gasoline engine with 100,000 miles on it.

A Mercedes 300D will last forever, basically. Mine appears to be immortal.

At this point in history I strongly feel that riding the buses in America or Canada is playing Russian roulette with leprosy, tuberculosis and flesh eating disease.

I had an '82 240D that I bought for 800 bucks in college fourteen years ago. I'll be damned if I didn't see my old car still driving around yesterday afternoon! I positively identified it by the rust pattern

A 3-series oil change AT THE DEALER barely breaks $100.

not true. they do not just call it an oil change. they are called inspection I and inspection II and it is not just an oil change, but a bunch of "inspection" that the tech may not even do shit about except check off the checkoff boxes. But you have to pay for the shit if you want your warranty to be valid

i bought 2 bmw's new and never had any quality or service issues at all.
99 m3 convertible (99-07)
07 335i convertible (07-12)
if i remember right 3 years of service was included and after that it wasn't cheap but it wasn't insane.
this year i switched to audi a6 instead of a 540 not because of any residual or other stuff but because audi just has better products now.
