Ryan is bright, articulate and a great spokesman for conservative beliefs. He is THE dominant thinker in the Republican party and they unanimously passed his budget.
He appeals to both the GOP leaders AND the Tea Party crowd who have not been enthused about Romney.
Getting your base out is more important than attracting the stupid undecideds who are small in number.

Are you insane? Ryan is on the record as saying he wants to eliminate Medicare. Everyone is in favor of getting rid of "big government" until you start trying to get rid of the pieces they benefit from.

Medicare is just the tip of the iceberg. All of the constituencies that Ryan wants to fuck over now have an incentive to come out for Obama. It's not just old people.

When Medicare began the average life expectancy was 70 and Medicare eligibility was 65. Today, the average life expectancy is 80 so Ryan wants to raise the age by 2 years, very slowly like 1-month a year for 24 years.
The plan would gradually raise the eligibility age to 67 by 2034 and cap Medicare spending growth at gross domestic product growth plus 0.5 percent.

Romney could have picked anyone and it's still better than giving 0bama another term.
People don't dislike 0bama because he is black but because he is a terrible president that just makes things worse.
