"Nationwide, Statistics Canadas report show that the number of homicides rose by 7 per cent in 2011, compared to the previous year, driven by increases in Alberta and Quebec. But the report noted that, despite annual fluctuations, the homicide rate has generally been declining since peaking in the mid-1970s.
No internal investigations (specifically with wrongful shootings by officers) have ever made a finding of fault with the RCMP, and for the OPP its been 20 years.
Imagine that - they've managed to completely eliminate any kind of human error or "fog of war" from all policing situations. You really get solid results when you hire the police to investigate the police.
The only reliable stat for crime is murder. All other crimes - assault, rape, robbery - have widely varying reporting rates based on culture, and how the police decide to classify them.
The only crime that is almost always reported is murder. If there's a dead body in the street with a bullet in its head, it will be reported. That is not always the case if a woman gets raped, or a guy gets punched by a random drunk dude.
If murder increased, that's what matters.
Also there's the folly of summing everything called "crime" and averaging it out throughout the whole country. Remove the Toronto skew and the averages would be different.
"While the crime rates in Toronto are dropping, other cities are seeing a spike, Statistics Canada reported.
Winnipeg, however, had a six per cent increase in the severity of violent crime, giving it the highest rank among census metropolitan areas.
Five other census metropolitan areas recorded increases in the seriousness of violent crime with the largest being reported in Gatineau, Que., and Guelph, Ont.
Western provinces generally reported higher crime rates and crime severity than those in the east."
Crime would be virtually nil if you took out the :ape: in Toronto and in Vancouver. Just sayin
This
Warning - brutal ownage incoming.
"The countrys most crime-blighted cities were once again in the west. Regina topped the table for the 14th straight year, followed by Saskatoon, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. But even among the worst cities, crime was down in nine of the bottom 10, with Winnipeg the sole exception.
The safest city was Guelph, in spite of a local increase in crime , followed by Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa. Of the 10 safest, only Guelph and the Quebec community of Sherbrooke had increased crime, compared to 2010.
Let's say there's a hypothetical city of 100,000 people, and in this city there are only 2 types of crimes reported: murder & heroin use.
In a typical year, there are 10 murders, and 1000 arrests for heroin use.
But this year, the police department decides to stop being so aggressive in pursuing heroin users on the streets.
So this year, there are 20 murders, and 200 arrests for heroin use.
Crime has dropped from 1010 incidents to 220 incidents. Does this represent a massive drop in crime? Are the streets safer?
This is why murder is the only reliable stat to track. It's the only crime that is consistently reported, regardless of culture.
Which brings up another point. Crime severity. When overall crime decreases, they're saying that a murder case is just as bad as a heroin possession case.

So you're suggesting that "crime rate" should only mean murders?

We know the central Provinces are crimed filled shitholes. Only reason I said Vancouver, Toronto (and Montreal) is because those are the 3 major cities. Nobody gives a fuck about Winnipeg, it's the equivlant of living in North Dakota.

Winnipeg's booming. Lots of priced-out Vancouverites heading east to be relieved of their wallets by red-bandanna-toting youth.

Except that's not the case at all. It's not the big cities filled with immigrants that have the highest crime rates like you suggested, it's the fly-over pure-white cities that do.

Spin racists, spin.
And all those intelligent immigrants handed Rob Ford the largest number of votes ever to any Canadian politician. Can't argue with you there.

It's the Injuns doing most of the crime, they're probably the worst of any race. Completely useless, given everything to them and they choose to unemployed leeches.
I never said Whites don't commit crime but immigrants seem to commit a large percentage of violent crimes, high than the percent they make up population wise.

It's telling that Katalyst praises the police and tries to justify their inflated salary and benefits.
The police belongs to the 10% political class policing the masses for the elite (and for themselves). It is not the primary task of police to protect the citizens but to collect taxes from tax-payers and crush any potential violent revolution by over-burdened and cornered tax-payers.
The police does not exist to police the Caribbean Canadian gun gangs - the police exists to police and tax YUO. And Katalyst exists to promote that.
