Is Walmart a great example of Capitalism?

Cheaper, quality goods and the convenience of almost everything under one roof.
Provides lots of employment at competitive pay.

Seems like it makes a great case for Capitalism.

Hillbilly outdoes the Jews. Love it. I'd like to see them do it with the medical biz and education.

Walmart is an excellent example. Good selection and service at great price which makes other retailers get better or fail with "no bailouts". If you really think about it, Walmart does more for their employed customers than the government.

A perfect example of Capitalism: paying its average worker so little they must collect welfare (e.g. food stamps, medicaid) to survive.

Solution is to end welfare.

Then business are forced to pay a living wage.

BTW - don't like being a worker in someone elses business ?

Then start your own.

Cant start your own ?

Then be a good hard worker for someone else.

How do you define 'living wage'?

Enough to live on........

but market actually determines the precise wage

[you have an extra needed skill,... you can get higher wage]

[when government seeks to set wage, it just fouls things up worse]

Good example of unbridled capitalism. A good example of capitalism should include a decent wage for employees, along with a reasonable rate of return of investment. Wal-Mart provides the latter at the dereliction of the former.

'Living Wage' is a term created by the government, so you are just sending out an invitation to let them fuck you.
I say scrap 'minimum wage' too and let the market decide.

Wal-Mart could not exist without the Government supporting them through benefits to employees. Get real.

It is a better example of global capitalism. Walmart is still in the US only because of consumers. Walmart is still in China only because of production. You cannot fault them. Blame your politicians instead.
Walmart just a pawn in game of life.

Right or wrong this is what happens in the global economy.
What has happened in the US will continue till the all people in the world will earn the average income.

Sad, but true.

Fuck the global economy. Are you a "One World" believer?

This is YOUR Nation we're talking about. Don't you want it to prosper as a whole?

Business are started by people for the purpose of making profit for the starters.

Generally these starters don't hold gun to head of strangers to make them work for them.

If the worker thinks he is worth more,... then he can go get it.

Or start his own business. Or more commonly, vote for someone who will promise to make laws forcing business to pay him more than the business would pay without the government force of law.

But when government steps in and makes businesses keep workers that the business owners deem not worth thier pay,...
then the result is business going elsewhere. Or just folding.

Wal-Mart directs politicians, rather than the other way around. You've got it completely backwards.

This is THE MAJOR PROBLEM in the USA today - Corporate America calling the shots..

Sounds great in theory, but does not play out in small town America.

My point was only that business would be forced to pay at least enought to keep the worker living.

ya see, he can't continue to be a worker if he ain't living.

Hence,.. living wage.

In long run, market will determine wage.

Not only a great example of capitalism, Walmart is a fantastic example of what short sighted morans Americans are.

Ask the Germans and the Japanese why they are willing to pay more for domestic goods, because Americans certainly won't.

I am telling you whats going on and that Walmart is not the bad guy.
Personally, I am totally against globalism. Countries are there for a reason, each has a different culture, language, system, religion etc, so people can chose one that is to their liking.
If I had my way, there would be no Nafta, but 30% tariffs on imports, no corporate taxes, no employer based health insurance, no unions, no lobbyists.......maybe we need to go back in time and do what worked.
