Yeah, Android users don't worry about that stuff because their phone vendor usually doesn't support upgrading their phones to the newest version of the Android OS.

"gingerbread"? "froyo"? "ice cream sandwich"? i cringe every time i see a respectable media outlet report on these ridiculous updates. how could anyone not know this was coming. the fact that most porn and farmville games will be html5 soon means it's curtains for android. google should just kill it already.

If you bought an iPhone 3GS in 2009 you would have gone through the following OS versions: 3.0, 3.1, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.0, 5.1 and soon 6.0 and however many 6.x versions they release. Plus you'd have gotten all the security updates (i.e., 3.0.1). That's 3 years of support (so far) and 8 major OS updates (so far).
