La Marseillaise has way better, more violent lyrics than our national anthem.

In English, first verse and chorus (what is typically sung.) This is what a national anthem should be about.
Arise, children of the Fatherland,
The day of glory has arrived!
Against us tyranny
Raises its bloody banner (repeat)
Do you hear, in the countryside,
The roar of those ferocious soldiers?
To cut the throats of your sons and women!
To arms, citizens
Form your battalions,
Let's march, let's march!
Let an impure blood
Water our furrows!

I was reading a history of France recently. It's funny how France has become synonymous with pussies in the anglo-saxon world. Up until WWII, they were the most violent, war-like nation in Europe.

Good advice when drinking in bars in certain parts of the world.
I talked to a marine who did joint training with the FFL. He said they were as good as anyone in their echelon. This was years ago and I don't remember many of the details, but I remember him saying they drank a lot.
I recall him disliking the FAMAS for some reason, as well, although I don't remember why.
You pretty much won't find anyone who has worked alongside the FFL saying bad things about them. They get in really shitty places, too.

Well, France doesn't have places like Arkansas and Alabama where the armed forces are a way out of poverty. The guys in the French army are there because they want to fight.
