I don't understand the "Schrodinger's Cat" paradox. If the cat is alive, it's alive. If it's dead, it's dead.

One of the uncomfortable consequences of this interpretation is that there is no such thing as time. Which surprisingly matches all the equations that had been previously worked out on how the universe works, which turned out to work equally well either forwards or backwards in time, meaning there's no need for causality after all and thus the absence of time is perfectly consistent with all the evidence

I don't think so. In MWI, the "splitting" of worlds only happens FORWARDS in time. The theory is inherently time-asymmetric.

Your statement that "90% of physicists subscribe to MWI" is absurd. It has, at best, the support of a substantial minority.

But YOU don't know which is which until you open the box.

What if I have a video camera in the box?

It's not even there until I look at it. Point?

Look, if you were designing a universe you wouldn't make shit happen until it was necessary. There is no point having information exist unless it is detectable.

Google 'Observer Effect'. You're welcome.

I've always been intrigued by that sort of "computational" interpretation, as it is more parsimonious than having to posit an infinite number of parallel universes. However, it raises more questions - such as whether there is some more fundamental reality in which the computer exists that is generating all of this apparent reality.

Suskind says the universe is a projection from its "edge". I think that's the place where the speed of expansion equals the speed of light. He got the idea from studying black holes. His holographic principle has been pretty much accepted and is used regularly in physics.

Then there's no such thing as the Second Law of Thermodynamics, dissipative structures, biology or chemistry, life and death, growth and decay, cycles, processes, beginnings, middles, ends, or evolution - as these things all require time.

AYRTS? IA?

What an almighty dick you truly are.

The faddist fetishisation of Time proves just how intellectually bankrupt and downright perverse science has become.

Pack of useless, ludicrous wankers.

That's all you've got? Right. That's all contemporary science has: NOTHING.

Simmer down einstein, you're dead and went to your gave trying to figure that one out.

I just finished his Black Hole War -- great book. The idea that reality is projected from an outer sphere really makes you think that the whole universe is likely somebody's national laboratory or science fair project.

What if I have a video camera in the box taping another video camera in the box that is taping the cat. And I just look at the video camera that is videoing the other camera. And it doesn't show a video of the cat, it shows that the video camera is working.

Then I never open up the box, I just shut off the video cameras and let the cat starve in the box.

That pretty much fucks up the whole experiment right there.

What if I have two cats in the box and I put a video camera on each of their heads. Then I tape a dead mouse on each cats neck so they chase each other around.

Then I let them starve. One of the cats will die at one point and the other cat will likely be observing it. I can tell by the smell when one has died.

I think that refutes the whole theory as well.
