Another thing to note about women shaving/waxing their pubes:
If you look at the evolution of fashions, particularly swimwear, you'll notice that the two correspond.
The racier and higher cut the bottoms became, the more necessary it got to manage the pubes. I remember in particular when the Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions began to come out this started changing.
In the late 60s/early 70s most bikini bottoms were not cut as high on the leg as they became later so it was easier to hide the fur behind the bottoms. I remember some of the SA swimsuit editions in the late 70s and 80s with Cheryl Tiegs and Christie Brinkley both wearing very high cut and/or barely there bikini bottoms.

When I see that a man has landscaped himself, it is an instant turn off and indicates to me that's he's a major man ho and/or is fucking other guys on the down low. If I ask you to landscape, that's one thing. But to present like that is a double condom trigger for this hen.
Just sayin'
i trim/shave down there as the hairs poke out of the lycra, and i get rashes from the bike seat, or distance running.... not a man ho or the ghey.
for running longer races yes, i just use cheap vaseline.... feet, ass, clothing contact points mainly to combat fatigue. it also provides a bit of a barrier to the elements.

I dont care how they look to men, I wear them because they are comfortable. They came out with a grey color with purple undertones. I ordered about 15 pairs of them in that color and that's all I wear.
I shave because it's simply more comfortable. I didn't shave when I was younger, simply because there were not good shavers out there that did the job. I trimmed with scissors. The small personal shavers that exist now are much better.
