Imagine this little girl at 11 years old. Telling her lies to teachers, and then to the police and DA's and no doubt counseling - and then testifying to it in court in front of all those adults.
Imagine what kind of crooked character development this is.
I don't remember what book I read, it was written by a psychiatrist about cases he had consulted on. There was a case of a 6 year old in the same circumstances who claimed Daddy had sex with her. She was JonBenet looking, all innocence, blonde and big eyes, sweetest little thing. It went all the way to a trial to make Daddy sex predator criminal, when she started accusing all the other adults of sexually molesting her including the DA and the judge, who finally called a halt to it all. She just liked all the attention she was getting.
Children do tell lies. Of course they do. They may not even understand what they are lying about if it is sex accusations before puberty age.
Even as an adult she continued the lie. She must have mental issues. I just don't understand how a competent investigation could have let Cassandra Ann Kennedy of Longview lie about being raped and send an innocent man to prison.

Cassandra's account included frightening detail, according to police reports. But if it wasn't true, police wanted to know this year, how could an 11-year-old know so much about sex? Cassandra told police in January that she began engaging in sexual activity as a second-grader. She also said she may have known what to tell police from watching a movie or from walking in on adults having sex.
In March of 2001, Cassandra was examined at a Vancouver clinic where she told a doctor about the alleged abuse. "She looked at me and said, 'Are you telling the truth?" Cassandra said this year of her appointment with the doctor. "I lied to her and said, 'Yes.' "
The doctor found trauma in Cassandra's groin area, according to a report.
At the end of the trial, the only conscience I have to sleep with at night... is my own.
Good advice for anyone serving on a jury. Every judge should be required to state that in his instructions. (No, he didn't. He was a very fair judge. The man got a mistrial for hung jury, the second in the case.)
This is called Informed Jury.
Too many jurors believe they have to obey the hints they get from the judge about the verdict.
Cassandra Kennedy lied and sent a man to jail for 9 years. Do not trust her.
Cassandra Kennedy falsely accuses men of rape.
Cassandra Kennedy lies to the police.

That is such sweet justice. Too bad some fanatical public official couldn't have called in a grand jury at that point and really started a Jacobin level political witch hunt with hundreds and perhaps even thousands of lives ruined...

I don't agree with the prosecutor's decision not to file charges against the woman who lied. This man's life is ruined. He spent 9 years in prison because of this lie.
Victims have nothing to fear if they are truthful with investigators. What kind of message does this send to people who make things up aginst others?
As a liberal, I am pretty ashamed that liberal prosecutors (I assume they are; maybe they are wingnuts after all?) would prefer that some people were unjustly convicted to ensure that victims came forward. Isn't it a standard liberal principle that we woudl rather let one hundred guilty men go free than to unjustly convict a single innocent man? What happened to that?
And the entire premise of the prosecutors was "children don't lie about these things."
Like fuck they don't.
BTW, as a test I once posted a challenge on a busy message board: Without googling, were the McMartin defendants guilty or innocent? About half of respondents assumed they had been convicted.

isn't he lucky to even be alive after this long? He was convicted of pedophelia, and those people typically get seriously beaten or even killed by other prisoners. Didn't the ex wife, etc think about that? Was that their goal to get him killed?

Considering the ex-wife coached the daughter in the first place, yes. The daughter was a pawn and just as much a victim as the father in this case. The prosecutor should go after the real criminal. I won't be holding my breath...

She became 18 years ago and still didn't confess. She became just as guilty at that point.
