FZ was basically a nerd who loved 20th century classical music (Xenakis, Stravinsky, Pendereski, Schoenberg, Varese, Webern) but realized he could make a lot more money playing guitar.

Peaches en Regalia, or whatever it's called, is kinda an instrumental classic.

His touring bands at the height of his career were pretty darned good.
Fowler brothers, that chick on marimba, Aynsley Dunbar. Lots of good players.

Bullshit.
You read a magazine article somewhere.
That is all you know.
Nope...I read Frank's own words..he'd go over to Don's place after school every night and listen to Don's huge collection of old blues 78's.
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band > x1000 than Frank Zappa and the mothers of Invention
And Frank's greatest hit and best work is really Captain Beefheart...Willy The Pimp...sung by Don..
I saw Don live twice and Frank once

Some of his stuff is good, some not. Have a number of his CDs but haven't listened to them in quite some time.

Fuck Dubstep too.
Zappa is for fat smelly old aspies that all think they are geniuses but in reality are just middle aged drones. Used to know a few guys that thought Zappa was god to the exclusion of almost all else. It was extremely obnoxious and the most effective girl repellent ever devised.

That was always Zappa's excuse.
By always parodying the work of others he never had to deal with the possible rejection of his own (non)attempts at making real music.

And let's not forget he was the first to produce Alice Cooper when they were really an insane drag queen band that nobody would touch..like in 67 when it was unacceptable even for hipsters to tolerate

One of the first experiments in making a movie in color video with lots of solarizing special effect. it was weird.
Ringo Star played Frank.
