although im not a huge fan of the franchise, the whole Pirates of Carribian non-sense, Johnny Depp is so obviously phoning his performances in, he makes what $20MM per picture? Getting paid without even working. Children apparently are entertained. Whatever.

I disagree with your reasons here. He's got presence and a certain charisma, and contrary to what a lot of people think, women aren't that swayed by looks, as long as they're not 'unfortunately hard on the eye' (aka ME). I thought he was very well cast and pulled it off perfectly; I always thought it more than believable that she'd go for him.

The gap is too great and he's too awkward. The whole American Beauty thing with Spacey was more believeable...
