It's a sliding scale. The more conspiracies you believe in, the less power you have in your life. Feeling like you know things that other people don't compensates for that lack of power. If knowing the "truth" about 9/11 does a little to restore a sense of self-worth, then piling on 10 other theories only helps that much more.
