There are probably simple things that any reasonably intelligent person from the 21st century could invent in Ancient Rome.
Bicycle? Stirrup? Crossbow?
I'm sure there are a million things like that. The hard part would be establishing yourself and getting apprenticed as a blacksmith or something so you could do it.
You could probably knock up a crappy solid wheeled, pedalless velocipede easily enough but something with pedals and a chain, spoked wheels, let alone gears would be a Cythaera wheel like novelty given the constraints of technique.
The idea is a million miles away from implementation. Go out right now with all your know how and build a bicycle or crossbow from scratch. 99.999% of the people in the modern world wouldn't know where to begin.
The fact that no one would speak the language and no translators to help you understand, the majority of romans would probably think you are retarded and sell you right into slavery after they cut your balls off.
There were no epees then, You only have one tunic, no cash and according to your scenerio you do not even acquire istantly the ability to speak their latin. At best some tard kills you and steals your tunic. At worst you end up a slave and get anal reamed by king kong cock of Rome.
And didn't they have bigger versions in the seige towers they built? Things like the ballistra that the romans adopted.
Siege weaponry was different. Demetrius of Macedon was known for his innovative siege engines. The Romans pretty much took whatever technology they felt would enhance their strength. They weren't great inventors, but, they were great innovators.

I'd go into politics. I'd have a decent chance to not fall into slavery as I speak a bit of Latin (hours and hours of translation in high school can never be unprogrammed) and am 6ft5:)

Sorry, you are not born of a noble house and thus not eligible.
