Why don't you send that good looking blond female reporter down into the ghetto or projects, in any major metro area of the USA, after midnight on any given night and see how well she does. She knowingly inserted herself into the midst of a very, very dangerous situation and predictably, something bad happened. Instead of anticipating a bad outcome based upon the circumstances, she saw herself getting the big story, being the hero and winning some prize. She should win a Darwin Award, not a Pulitzer or whatever the hell it is reporters get.

So, given the opportunity here for some nuance, I feel I should explain the point I really was trying to make. Had Logan been a non-white, non-famous journalist, this story would have never made it to the news. Ahmed Mahmoud, an Egyptian journalist, was killed in cold blood and nobody ever heard of him. Dozens of other women were harassed and nobody will ever know their names. Credible accounts indicate that the assaults on women took place largely on the Friday of the victory celebration, when millions of non-demonstrators joined the party. Countless women (Egyptian and foreign, journalists and others) have reported being harassed and assaulted in Tahrir Square that Friday, mostly, it seems, by non-revolutionaries. (This harassment was a preexisting problem that Egyptian women have been increasingly complaining about.)...
I really have been outraged by Logan’s stories in the past, which I feel have defended American imperial adventures that cost the lives of many thousands of people in the Middle East, glorified American special forces even while they were killing innocent Afghans, and praised Gen. Stanley McChrystal, while condemning her own colleague, Michael Hastings, of Rolling Stone (because he hadn’t served his country, she said). My resentment of Logan was because I felt she was a terrible journalist who supported wars that I had covered....
The more I read and watch Lara, the more I am convinced that *she* is not playing games. She is quite idealistic. She is also very, very tough. EVERYONE who knows her points that out. We never hear anyone contradicting that, or that she has a really good personality.
Yet, I can't understand whay she would say "I do not want to minimize it, I do not want to sensationalize it." Does seem inconsistent. Who ever is saying here that she might have told us a lot more than what we were shown might be right.

I know it's easier for you guys to masturbate if you see Ms. Logan as "deserving" of the attack (whether it be due to bad karma or recklessness or whichever type of "victim blaming" you're into) but it just doesn't make much sense. I mean, if she's not the "cool chick" she seems to be then she's... what... so diabolical that she's learned to mimic the tone, gestures, emotion and displayed empathy that good people exhibit(?). You'd think people like Michelle Malkin would give that a try... if it were so easy to do. Is Lara just a better actress? Is she secretly this raging jungle cat behind the scenes but so talented that she can transform herself into the consummate professional on the news and, really, a relatively charming person whenever she is interviewed or speaking about her own life -- is she that talented an actress and deceiver?
Did she trot into war zones when she was a teenager and report on the civil rights crisis because she wanted to be popular? Did she dodge bullets in Afghanistan to score more success as a journalist? Man, I'm not sure that's as likely as it is... that she's exactly who she says she is... and really gives a damn about being a kick ass journalist.
Has she used her sexuality to advance her career? First, who (male or female) hasn't? It's unavoidable, really. You can either smile and be friendly to people or shun them and be viewed as an "ice queen" (or the male equivalent).
If you were a soldier, would you rather be interviewed by the crooked nosed Australian dude or the sexy blond chick? Probably the sexy blond chick, right? I don't think that means she cheated her way to the top somehow. No one would have respected her if she didn't do her job well. They'd have dismissed her after they got what they wanted. You don't have to answer any questions to stare at a woman's chest for five minutes. You can just shoot out some bullshit and gawk away, right?

What I think these men responded to, most of them, was her sincerity and her passion. She gave a damn. They could relate to that because they're out there fighting for what they believe in and risking their lives to make the world a better place. You find a journalist that actually cares and you're going to relate to that person. Not that it didn't help that she was drop dead sexy but... that doesn't exactly give her an edge over most female journalists these days (they're all hot). Maybe it gives her an edge over most war correspondents. But, you know, though it might open doors, it's not going to get you far without the skills and the intellect necessary to do the job. Right?
Lara Logan isn't some sort of evil... uppity prom queen that... got her comeuppance. She's the good guys. Maybe that ruins your masturbation buzz but it's the truth. She's a good person so cut her some slack. Give her the respect due to someone out there trying to make a difference. If you need to justify your perverted fantasies then... maybe... I don't know... figure out something else. *shrug*

I mean, I'm not naive enough to think she's an innocent little farm girl. You don't get as far as she has without being ambitious and assertive... but she really does seem to have the character to back it up. She seems like a nice enough person. I don't see most of the criticism about her on here to be valid. She's always been very professional and passionate about her beliefs and always honest to a fault (too honest to be as fake or manipulative as some would claim). I know her type. She's tough and centered and no-nonsense but she's got a big heart and she deserves every bit of the success she's had in journalism and she deserves a happy family life. She's someone I like enough to support on here knowing that she'll probably never notice or care. She's probably not right about everything she ever says or always friendly to everyone or whatever else people associate with their ideal whatever... but she means well and she really gives it her best and I think she gets it right most of the time, and always gets it right when it matters. She's got my respect.
Masturbate all you want under whatever narrative you like but try to keep those fantasies separate from the way you think about and talk about her in real life. I mean, I can't tell you what to do but... just... this woman doesn't deserve the hate. Let that stuff go. Search for the videos. Analyze the events. Whatever.
