Dresden was payback for the atrocities committed by the Germans on British civilians.
I stood at the memorial outside the cathedral in Dresden. With a German, a descendant of people who tacitly or overtly supported Hitler and his odious coterie. "There was fault on both sides," he said.
I said not a word, for I felt not one molecule of contrition.
