Kelly Ann Collins

Kelly
I am very excited to be chosen as a Champion Fundraiser for individuals living on the autism spectrum in Northern Virginia. I will be raising funds as a model for the fashion runway show in the Arts for Autism Gala which benefits the Autism Society of Northern Virginia (ASNV). Arts for Autism will be at the Clarendon Ballroom on Saturday, November 6, 2010. If you buy a Gala Table there is a special dinner reception at 7pm, otherwise this extraordinary event will begin at 8pm.

Please join in this wonderful effort by sponsoring me in the Arts for Autism Gala. You can either purchase tickets or make a donation to sponsor my campaign. My goal is to raise over $2,500. Please be generous and help me become a champion to these incredible families living with autism on the spectrum. We both thank you for your support!

All proceeds from Arts for Autism will benefit the Autism Society of Northern Virginia. Children do not “outgrow” autism, but studies show that early diagnosis and intervention can lead to significantly improved outcomes. With the right services and supports, people with autism can live full, healthy, and meaningful lives.

guess how much she raised?

Steve Coran's post about the Valentine's Day massacre is still the most amazing thing I have ever read on the internet. I still laugh whenever I read it.

Today, we chat with DC Style’s Kelly Ann Collins.

How many suits do you own? Including the ones in storage? Lots. Triple digits. But, I’m not a “suit person.” I hate wearing suits.

What word do you routinely misspell? Dumbbell.

Did you see Brokeback Mountain? No.

Did you see The Da Vinci Code? No.

What’s the name of your cell phone ring? Charlie’s Angels (TV Theme)

What time did you get up this morning? 6:23

When did you last cry and why? Last week. I shut my finger in a door.

Which of the seven deadly sins are you? Lust.

Beach, city or country? City.

Would you say you’re cute? Pretty? Hot? Beautiful? Depends on when you ask. Right now, I look like a monster. You know, because I have on a stupid Von Dutch hat, last season’s Juicy Couture, which I spilled my Mint Condition on about five minutes ago, and I have a serious case of bedhead under this hat.

What color is your bathroom? Everything is white, with one goldfinch accent wall.

How many emails do you receive a day, roughly? Eighty to 90.

What’s your opinion of New York City? New York is OK. Best in fall and winter. I hate the way it smells in the summer.

What’s your favorite letter? A.

What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career? A guy named Three Wells (a.k.a. Hawey Wells III).

Have you ever downloaded a podcast? If so, which one? Yes, all the time. Last one was one from The Anacostia Diaries Blog. Creeped me out a little. Didn’t know they had ipods in Anacostia.

Who’s your all-time favorite American Idol candidate? Ugh. Please don’t mention American Idol. It’s too early in the morning to bring up those memories.

When’s the last time you volunteered? Where? Yesterday. I updated The Courage Cup website.

Who is your favorite active journalist? Matt Lauer. One, because he started his media career in the same place I did, West Virginia. And two, because he survived the Britney Spears interview.

What did you have for breakfast? A peanut butter South Beach protein bar, coffee and some soy milk.

What’s your favorite item of clothing? This long-sleeved white t-shirt that is super-comfy.

What one toiletry item could you not live without? Shampoo.

If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? I’d like to be invisible.

Better role model: GIJoe? Barbie? Barbie. She’s been a pilot, an astronaut and a presidential candidate. She owns a Dream House, an Ice Cream Shop and a Talking Townhouse. And, she never stops smiling — even when you pop her head off. That’s what I call a real woman.

She's a single and pushing 40, why would anyone take relationship advice from her? It's like getting stock tips from the bum in the alley.

Not kidding about this. She was at a party at a mate of mine's house.

She took a shit in his bathroom that could have knocked a dung beetle off a shit wagon.

She's small but has some serious digestive issues.

2/10

Her life is the internet and I have no interest in 40 year old women.
