What's funny about these bleeding heart "Woe is me, I'm out of a job" stories you see popping up is that, nine times out of ten, they usually feature some retard(s) who was grossly overpaid when times were good and should have known better to sock some money away.
I'd feel bad for a guy or gal who was making $25 - $30k in Flyoverville, who then got laid-off and is now struggling to make ends meet. At that kind of pay, you really were in no position to build up a savings hoard of cash - those people were living paycheck-to-paycheck just to pay their basic shit like food/clothing/shelter.
But you rarely see articles about those types. It's always like the Vegas article...a bunch of morons who were grossly overpaid, should have known/realized it, but instead spent the money like it was never going to end.
I mean, secretaries making $58k, cocktail waitresses making $60k, construction workers making $32 an hour...for fuck's sake - at some point, it would have to hit you, "I'm a high school graduate, working a job that some uneducated Mexican could do for 1/4th the wage...maybe I'd better put most of this money into a savings account and/or use the money to learn a trade or profession...because obviously, this isn't going to go on forever."
Instead, they throw their money at stupid things like a timeshare in Maui (show me someone who bought a timeshare, and I'll show you a moron ), ATVs, Harley Davidsons, boats, in-home waterfalls, etc. Basically, shit that's gonna have zero value when the bubble bursts. Yet, they have the balls to whine "woe is me" to any reporter who will listen to their story.

it's easy to call this excess but then you see the story of the invesment banker with a private plane, 2 vacation homes and a governemnt bailout and yet he's called sucessfull.....why?
it's a pretty fucking up world we live in when there's all this anger for a $58K a year (which is SHIT FUCKING MONEY)sexytery while the wallstreet elite make more than that in a week and yet get bailed out when their 'industry' falls on bad times (of their own makeing i might add).
the post i replied to is exactly why we are in this mess......missdirected anger, resentment and loathing.

Oh, I agree with you 169%, and I should have listed those guys, too - they are the worst offenders. Former Lehman Bros. and Bear Stearns traders who were making mid-six figures for years who are now crying to newspaper and magazine reporters that they are broke and destitute.

The next day, Walsh loaded the dogs into his Chevy Trailblazer and hooked up the trailer intended for his off-road vehicles. He headed down Interstate 15 to a place that, even for all its troubles, now appeared more promising: California.

How did the elite convince the working class to hate the working class?

These same white trash GED realtor assholes couldn't give a shit when IT was destroyed 10 years ago by a combination of corporate greed and government policy.
Now they're on the chopping block and we should feel no sympathy whatsoever

you fuckstain fucking it assholes laughed and told the help desk and phone support people watched their jobs go to india and the phillipines. then it happened to you, and we were supposed to give two shits. now you're laughing again because someone else is having the same trouble.
fact of the matter is, you're scumbags for being happy about this. when all is said and done, we're americans and should be for americans, regardless. people have been crying about nationalism and isolationism for a long time, but guess what? we're the only society that hates itself to this degree. we're selling ourselves the rope to hang ourselves, and you fucktards that hate the rest of your own country are the ones stringing up the tree.
sure, every single human could be wrapped in a sheet of flaming plastic, and the world would be a better place. but that doesn't mean we should wish third world status on our own homes.

Unions made up a chunk of vegas so that explains the inflated labor prices. However I predict within six to nine months the average house in detroit will be worth more than vegas.
Vegas was made with little around it...and not much water...detroit has access to the great lakes and you can still deal without frying on the streets!

Motorcycle.
But these boards are filled with hate. Everybody hates everything, and everybody hates everyone.

Well, that's why I'm not impressed with these articles. These are people who'd be fucked in any economy.
Remember when they marketed Vegas as a family destination about 10 yrs ago.
"Hey Connor, mommy wants to talk to you when the pirate ship show stops"
"what mommy?"
"I lost your college fund on blackjack"
"Mom, what am I going to do at 18 for college?"
"Join the Army"
Well, that's because 10 years ago they saw this was going to happen. Why go to Vegas when you can go gamble at a Florida resort with golf courses and a beach?
Still, I wonder how much of this is due to the stupid checkpoints at the airport? I used to love to fly, but now I'd rather drive 800 miles than fly.

Family vacation destination -- what a scam. I took my wife and kids to Vegas in 1996. Porn leaflets littered the streets. My kids ended up spending more money in the casino arcades then we did on the casino floor because there was nothing else for them to do. Biggest fucking bore of a vacation I ever had.
How did the elite convince the working class to hate the working class?
The working class has always hated itself. It runs on hate. So giving it a little push was all it really takes. The elite dangled shiny things in front of the workers, showed a few of them they could use african credit to get them, and then say back while they tore themselves apart.

The trick that nailed Vegas was the PITA that flying became. It used to be that you could get a $100 round trip ticket to Vegas from anywhere in the US. The price of the flight went through the roof. Why was the fare so cheap before? Well because it was subsidized by the business there.
So you would hop an ultra cheap flight, goto Vegas and get some world class fucking up done. Drinking, druging, whoring, all way the fuck and gone from friends and family. No real repercussions. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Now the price is through the roof, the flight is a nightmare that is ultra uncomfortable, unpleasant, and fucking germ filled. You get there and it winds up being just like the casinos right by your house. So you dropped time and money to get something that you can get at home.
Fuck that.
