I can't believe you suckers are defending lawyers.

Public defenders are a bunch of cunts who almost never have the interest of the defendant at heart. I can understand why he clocked him.

Having said that, he probably deserved to go to jail anyway. Fuck violent criminals.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've had a best friend die. It sucks.

At his funeral, as they rolled him off to be burned, they played a song we'd wrote together. I recorded all the instruments, and he sang on it. It was exactly what he would have wanted.

Again, sorry for your loss.

Is it because it's a netbook? I thought you usually ran ubuntu?

I've got Ubuntu on my main machine (posting from it now) but it's starting to get a little bloated so on the netbook I thought I'd try Debian. Also, I've been using Ubuntu for years and I think it's made me a bit soft, thought I'd go back to a distro that doesn't hold my hand as much, keep my hand in. Yes, I'm a masochist.

I'll probably get abuse hurled at me for saying so, but I find the Vista/7 user interface to be less, rather than more intuitive.

I always thought the acid test for Windows was whether Bill Gates' mother could use it. I can't see the V/7 interface made it any easier.

I think some of the control panel stuff seemed in a weird place but overall it's not too different than XP. Still have start menu and show all programs...once you know that it's a doddle.

. said:The UI crap aside and some really minor performance shit, the only relevant change I can think of is that MS improved the WLAN management component, which was a unstable POS in Vista.

Here's why Vista got a bad rep:

MS changed the way memory management worked from XP. Vista's memory manager pretty much always tries to use all available RAM. Why? Because having several GB of RAM just sitting there unused is idiotic. So Vista loads as much as it can into RAM to improve general performance und frees RAM when applications request it.

Now, enter :trev:. Trev used was incredibly proud of his hax0red, trimmed down WAREZ-Version of WinXP that only showed 150mb of used RAM after bootup.

So when :trev: installed Vista and booted it up, his head basically exloded when he saw that Vista used up almost all his RAM.

So :trev: went on the web and screeched BLOATWARE! like the little idiot he is. Now, while :tfb: and :gramps: and :pedohunter: really loath :trev:, they assume that he kinda knows computers and shit.

She when :trev: said that Vista was a bloated piece of crap, they simply parroted him and the supposed Vista bloat became a general concensus.

So come Windows 7, MS changed the way memory usage is displayed in the task manager -> problem solved.

Suck it, :trev:.

So why is Vista actually slower?

Well whatever performance tweaks there are to stop "retards" screaming bloatware, they really do make the OS seem...less bloated.

. said:It's not a question of being cheap. RAM is not expensive.

It's about taking your computer part, seeing what's already in there, finding out what you can replace it with, going to PC world, buying the RAM and fiddling about putting it in.

That's half a day you've wasted, and fucked up a nice clean teeshirt doing it.

Add to that the fact you know you're doing it simply because a lot of fat fuck programmers at MS couldn't be bothered to make it different, and it makes the whole thing irritating beyond measure.

That's why people complain.

I don't mind installing RAM, but this netbook only has a 2 gig limit on the amount you can stick in it. Even if I could put more in, the first solution should never be to buy more RAM.
A decent OS is a good start.

You're full of shit.

People who don't care about resources get shitty battery life on laptops and slow loading times for their programs. I know it doesn't matter to you. Hell, you have absolutely no fucking life. An extra 30 seconds loading time for Office actually helps fill up your day.

Same as they do every time facebook changes something.

It quickly became apparent that XP was a much better version of Windows.

Something that hasn't happened since. Vista was a disaster, 7 was just an improved Vista, and 8 is the first version designed where the desktop is not the intended place for it to be used.

XP is the best Windows desktop version.

I actually quite like 7. It's not the resource hog pig that Vista was, and I do prefer it to XP. Little things like the start menu search bar (reminds me of alt+F2 with tab completion on Linux).

Plus it seems to run every piece of windows software I throw at it that runs on XP too.

This has been going on since windows first came out. At the time everyone, or at least every nerd, was certain windows would never catch on because DOS did everything you needed.

Where's all the winME and Vista fanboys then?

You have got to be trolling.

Marketshare is not total users. There are a lot more users now.

I've already said this. Scroll up to see.

Most windows boxes owned by Joe Sixpack are already botted and he couldn't give a fuck. Just waits an extra ten minutes for it to boot up while it connects to a server in Russia. Fuck it, facebook still works.
