There is a very distinct reason why he didn't finish his art degree, and it wasn't for financial reasons, which was his original claim.
We've all been speculating about it since he dropped out in 2007. He was on the graduation list for Spring 2007, if you can believe it. That means that as of Spring 2007, the courses he had that current semester should have been enough to fulfill his requirements.
However, for James to be on the list and not graduate meant that he withdrew from at least one course. Now, it is presumed that he withdrew from at least one general education course.
So, MOST likely, he was unable to complete college algebra or some other retard math course. Lacking either the ability, the work ethic, or both, he realized that he just couldn't do it and threw his art degree right into the toilet.
