I probably threw $50K of stuff (retail-priced) away that I got from engineering. i wasn't a programmer, just thought that my friends could use it, but never ended giving it away because it meant i was their 24/7 tech support team.

that company rocked for about 6 years, then slowly disintegrated. i should be fucking retired now.

I threw away a rack mount 800bpi tape drive. Prolly cost $5k or more when new. It had the card to link to a 386 PC.

Just heavy junk.

You'd carry around your programs in these giant fucking rolls of paper tape with holes in them. You'd feed the paper tape into the machine and it would type back what it printed before.

To save your program, you'd list it and turn on the paper tape machine.

People would leave their paper tape shit all over the room. And you'd always get your roll of paper tape mixed up with theirs. Fucking nightmare.

It was so nice going from that to tape casettes.

Yes. On a PDP-11. Rack mount....it was supposed to be the single computer to handle the budget for a $10billion enterprise.
