Tough call. Overall, I prefer Paris, although the language barrier would make life a bit more difficult at first. You would learn French for sure in 3 years. Bonus!

London would be an easier transition and the theatre there is in English and a relative bargain.

Parisian girls are more attractive, but tend to be smokers.

The technology for street-ready, consumer electric cars is fairly recent. That's a big enough change where it will take time for it to reach the peak of it's capability.

Yes, but Babbage was only trying to develop a better salad shooter.

You fucks are too young to remember the Heathkit Cantenna. It was a load, not a receiving antenna:

Total opposite in Japan.

So when random assholes at Wal Mart started greeting them for no reasons, they were just incredibly irritated by it. It's really just another example of how the US managers did not take local cultural peculiarities into consideration (and were too arrogant to hire professional counsel).

Culture in Germany is very different is these regards. German shopper want to be left the fuck alone. If they want to talk to an employee, they approach one. They also don't really care if the retail sales person is smiling and super-nice. Cranky works fine, as long as they're polite.

Now I know where I got that shopping attitude. It's my German side!

Shiny New Kid said:I bought a set of the Chinese made power tools as I had some home repairs to do. Every time it was the same. I'd think I just have a light job so I'll buy the cheapest tool.

I'd get home and try to use it and every time find it was unfit for even the most basic jobs. Drills without the power to drill through anything, sanders without the power to strip anything and the extraction system blocking up in a few minutes etc.

So I'd end up going back to the store and buying a German made tool at 4 times the price but the difference in doing the job was like night and day.

So I had two sets of every power tool. The cheap crappy unusable Chinese one that tempted me with the price every time, and the expensive German ones that actually allowed me to do the job.

Never EVER buy cheap tools.

What's your reaction when you hear "most Americans believe" something, especially since the U.S. isn't even recognizably the U.S. anymore; especially since the U.S. has been flooded by monkeys from third-world countries?

What's you reaction when you hear that "most Americans" believe something?

Depends on who is making the assertion.

Most Americans say they oppose limiting or ending collective bargaining for public sector unions, according to a poll released Tuesday.

Sixty-one percent of Americans surveyed for a USA Today/Gallup Poll said they would oppose a law in their own state similar to the one that has sparked massive protests in Wisconsin, while 33 percent said they would support such legislation. Six percent said they had no opinion.

i don't shop there, not even online.

Sounds like BS to me.

Not that I think WalMart is a great employer, but this would yield great returns in a class action suit.

I used to buy my deodorant at WalMart, but they raised the price and are now more expensive than Target.

I concluded that most of the prices were raised in WalMart to make some short-term profit goal.

The shopping "experience" at WalMart is subpar. And they all have a strange smell.

Even without the house payments, Hartman figured the Furrys were spending as much as $1,000 more a month than was coming in, with the difference coming out of the family's dwindling savings accounts. The expenses included nearly $300 on household supplies, not counting groceries. And Lisa spent about $275 a month on beauty products and services.

The couple's pets, which include a rabbit, cost about $200 a month.

Every day Stephen doesn't have work he needs to be looking for it," Hartman said.

Lisa, too, needs to get at least a part-time job. Because she cared for her mother for nine years, Hartman suggested she look for work helping the elderly. Also, Hartman suggested that the couple reconsider home-schooling their daughter so Lisa can work full time.

"My main fear is that they don't have enough money coming in," Hartman said, adding that an extra $2,000 a month would be a tremendous help.

The Furrys need to get rid of their house and move into a cheaper apartment. A short sale, if the lender allows it and a buyer can be found, would have less of an effect on their already damaged credit than going into foreclosure.

All this advice was a lot to take in. But the Furrys said it helped them face up to the realities of their situation.
