the thing is, if you were half as satisfied as you claim to be, you wouldn't have responded to my original post the way you did. you give off a lot of angry vibes, dude. unless you're a different dot, that is.
the whole world is fucked up. what a terrible time to be alive. you know, the chinese have a certain curse: "may you live in interesting times." when i was younger, i used to dismiss such sayings as the tumors of weak, timid and unnatural cultures. but the truth is, they're right. at the end of the day, all that really matters is that we have someone to come home to. the greatest, most important and healthiest cause of all, which is equal parts love, intimacy, and acceptance. life is pointless without these things. and what an incredible time we live, what remarkable powers the directors of society have over us that they've managed even to split the sexes -- to drive a wedge between man and woman. interesting times indeed, i guess. sad, too. really very sad.
i wouldn't have bought it anyway. i almost got a 6970 instead of this gtx 480, but for some reason i seem to reverse brands every upgrade or so.
for example, i have an amd cpu and an nvidia gpu this time. last time, it was an intel cpu (q6600) and an ati/amd gfx card (hd 4890). before that, it was an amd (sempron) and an nvidia card (6800). repeating patterns, i guess. if i don't have an amd cpu and an nvidia card, i have an intel cpu and an ati card.
not really sure why it always works out like that, but for some reason that's always how my computers end up.
i think i'm in it more for the incredible technology behind it all. i'm not a "gamer." i don't play consoles or anything like that. i just like to see the technology at work at its highest state and the wonderfully impressive audio/visual presentations they produce
i understand but this is really extreme stuff. the gtx 480 sucks 240 watts at peak. the phenom is another 150, plus physx card and everything else. i really hope i'm not fucking anything up right now. i know i shouldn't even use it until monday when i get the new psu, but i've been so bored these last couple weeks it would kill me to spend another weekend staring at the ceiling.
the only bad thing is i didn't realize what a shitty PSU i bought. can't believe i overlooked it. it's some piece of crap made by "xtreme gear," and it doesn't have built-in ripple suppression or anything. i have a good ocz psu on the way, but i hope running this thing in the meantime doesn't fuck up my components.
