OP, I do everything alone. I think you are on the right track, except for the part about buying hookers. Doing that will deaden you emotionally and make you unable to connect with the right woman should she come along.
As I explained, they were already fucked. Before the strike they had been whittled down to next to nothing. Bankruptcy was going to happen, it was planned by the hedge fund.
Hostess was purchased by hedge funds. They proceeded to saddle the company with debt and pay out huge bonuses to themselves and the execs.
At the same time they kept telling the unions that the company was struggling and big sacrifices were needed.
The unions eventually made many of those sacrifices. By the end, many employees were making 25% of what they were originally and the hedge funds were still paying themselves huge bonuses.
At that point, the union members really had nothing to lose. They were just a step above poverty anyway. They said, no more cuts, and bankruptcy was declared.
The b.aggers can bullshit all they want, but this was a simple raping of a company and it's low paid union workers by a hedge fund.
This is not true. They agreed to about a 10% wage reduction and never gave any structural savings (i.e. give up jobs that were not productive). The new company is going to have the same sales on less than half the number of employees. How are they going to do that, magic?
No, you are wrong. It was close to a 75% reduction of salary and benefits. By the time it was over the unions had very little left to lose.
Don't speak logically to OLG. What matters to him is that he can eat at "better" restaurants. And, he claims that money grows faster on the trees there...
Yet, the OP is living with an absolutely shitty job and is not sure where his next one is.
We don't have the problem out here - and as a consequence, salary potentials are much higher.
It's a hiring explosion in the SF Bay area... they are literally hiring anyone with a pulse.. standards are way down and pay is way up.
Yeah but can you afford to live there?...that is the question. I know I cannot afford anything there. My house here in flyover would be worth $1 million easily there, provided same condition and surrounded by white people.
Living in flyoverville is all about being risk adverse, and willing to accept mediocrity.
If you are type who will eat Applebees if it means your house costs only $150,000, then you have already set your life up for failure.
BTW, at any moment I could move to flyoverville and buy a house 5 times as expensive as yours in cash. I am in that situation because I live in SF.
