Oh, and I know lots of wealthy on paper seniors who don't buy shit with their money. I do work with some guys in their 70's and 80's who have 10, 20, 30 million worth of appraised land and a decent chunk of money in the bank. A lot of them don't do shit. They're good old boys who inherited land from people who bought it here in Florida decades ago, and now that land is in the middle of high dollar retirement communities and so forth.
Occasionally one of them is interested in developing some of it, or deeding part of it over to grandchildren. A lot of these guys are still living in the same houses they had 60 years ago, driving trucks from the 70's, you get the picture.
A friend of mine in highschool, his dad was an opthamologist. His mom was a psychiatrist. This was back in the 90's. He drove a 1980's Ford Escort. He later sold that and drove some piece of SHIT looking 1970's tank car, not sure what it was, but it looked like something a hood rat would drive. It wasn't even tricked out or anything, and it was an ugly shade of brown. He probably paid a few grand for it. His wife drove a Ford Explorer.
Their house wasn't fancy at all, either. Maybe 2000 sqft, not in a fancy gated neighborhood or anything like that, not fancy decorated, no fancy yardwork.
Between the two of them they had to be raking in serious cash. They did take nice vacations to Europe, but even that wasn't like a yearly occasion. They were both incredibly hard working people...he was a little bit older, in his 60's at the time, and he worked like 12 hours a day, and his wife was into all kinds of shit on top of her job. They rarely took time to do anything but work, and they didn't care much about material things.
Shitty. Sounds like it's went downhill. Years ago it was fun just walking up and down the street, buying some overpriced drinks, and watching girls flash.
