AYRTS? IA?

Great, let's let the benefit of cutting taxes on the wealthy "trickle down" and help those less fortunate out...eventually.

You and I both know that never happens. And there is capital to be made. Let the greedy fucks run.

End the Bush-era tax cuts, finish up Afghanistan ASAP, and develop a plan to eliminate the deficit within ten years. Start taxing churches. Eliminate certain forms of corporate welfare: i.e. subsidies to large farming interests. Implement forced recycling. Encourage self sufficiency. Legalize marijuana and parlay it into a revenue source for the government, albeit a modest, affordable one.

Make fines for drunk driving more extreme. Take away drivers licenses and have prison terms for second offenses. Begin community gardening programs where people can raise chickens, grow food. Encourage better and less violent television programming. Give incentives for companies that make a pledge and refuse to offshore jobs. Tax companies that refuse to stop offshoring jobs.

Create grant programs for technological creativity. Create more green jobs, organic agriculture, and open CCC type camps (like in the Hoover era) for unemployed, homeless people to go to make a little money). Some of these could be like kibbutzes, as long as people perform some labor they get paid and a roof over their head. This could be expanded to factories and other enterprises.

Eliminate the last two years of high school, compress schooling into 10 years, eliminate 3 month long summer vacations, and have kids graduate by the time they are 16. They would then have a choice to either a) join the military or b) perform 2 years of community service, working in a hospital, in nursing homes, social work, something alternative to military service. After completion they get a college education, fully funded, plus a small salary to live on. If they complete a bachelor's, they get the rest paid for. Those who don't wish to go to college could have a trades education paid for.

Nationalize banks, health care, and insurance.

Perhaps, but let's not make it really really easy for them.

It's like deadbeat dads and child support. If you let them get away with something for long enough, they'll continue to do so.

The UK's austerity measures have largely failed; their economy improved for a period of time, but is faltering again.

Ireland, well...

Big Business is counting on partisan retards like you to blame each other, distracting you from what they're really doing: turning the US into a third-world slave labor pool.

That and the rise of large corporate farms in Mexico, which killed hundreds of thousands of jobs.

They are going to London now, ironically.

So rich tards complaining about money and taxes flee France and go to London?

KM.as.a.dot said:This is known as "The Biggest Loser" effect. The easiest way to have one of the fastest growing economies is that you have a shitty one to begin with.

Brazil is growing because a) it has a shit ton of unexploited commodity wealth, and b) foreign "capitalist" investment has decided thats where the growth is and is pouring in money at a rate never seen before. They might be socialists but its capitalist money that is driving it.

At any rate, Brazil IS a perfect comparison for what Liberals are turning America into...tons of dangerous, violent brown favelas where a handful of people helicopter around the city and travel in armor plated limosines.

Good thing I'm neither a liberal or a conservative.

The largest political party in Brazil is the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party.

In terms of membership. It's a coalition government of about 12 parties, so who is really ruling?

I already know the answer. I also know that it recently overtook the UK as the world's sixth largest economy, and has managed to (narrowly) avert the recession much of the world experienced starting in 2008.

One of the world's fastest growing economies. Clever, those socialists.

Theres a few other socialist countries with latin american majorities...Cuba and Venezuela to name a couple. It isnt working out particularly well for them, but that is where America will eventually be.

I think they kind of had to, because of their demographics. Some aspects of it are working well, some aren't. But then again, some aspects of the American democratic experiment are working, and some aren't.

sandman said:Look at the tax rate in the 1950s. Taxing the rich doesn't necessarily mean that national prosperity is necessarily affected.

The rich do pay a large amount in taxes, but the relative amount of taxes paid versus income earned is far less than the average working class slob.

They need to pay much, much more because overall they, their ilk, their companies put more demands on the "system".

Corporation are people too and it's about time that there is a global movement to take some of this liquidity and return it back to the "system".

At the same time, though, ideally government should be overhauled, parsed, and pruned of any unnecessary programs. We can start with the department of homeland security, which is a modern incarnation of the Gestapo.

I'd go even further, and advocate an entirely new Constitutional Convention, and the formation of a parliamentary form of government. Too much partisan gridlock, and nothing gets done. Or perhaps Congress should be paid according to the level of legislation it actually passes, as an incentive to compromise.

That being said, we do need to tax the wealthy more in order to keep programs that help people like you and I go to school. And provide healthcare for people like you and I when there isn't any. And to make sure that cars have safety standards. And that polluters are punished.

I just see attempts to shove austerity down the American psyche as backfiring, and turning a lot of people into Democrats.

I don't think feeding illegals is really as much of a problem as you'd like to think, unless you're willing to go pick strawberries for 10 hours a day in the hot sun next time you get laid off.

Strawberries are a luxury - no one will die if they dont eat strawberries you stupid cunt

So you don't think there is a possibility that all these austerity measures won't drive people to the left? That just happened in France.

It's funny how the misconceptions Americans have about other cultures manifest themselves.
