I was concerned the boomer generation that favors corporate profits (be they real or fake) at any cost over the sustainability of western civilization. Thank god they will not have blame placed at their feet.

How will you retire?
You have a plan?

Didn't think so.

It's you're about 60 it's near impossible. If you secure a job in your 50s be ready to get booted (especially if you work at a foreign-owned company) so they don't have to pay your retirement. All in all we're all fucked.

Thank slick-Willie and all the Democrats for bringing us into Nafta and WTO and opening the doors for Cafta. Democrats are making it even worse now and by the time they're done this country'll only be a rest stop on a super highway.

Yep, Slick Willie fucked us with NAFTA.

I have been really stressing out on retirement lately, near panic that I will not be able to ever.

Just decided fuck it, not married, no kids..just stop worrying about it and shoot myself at age 55.
Better than getting old as fuck, plus I am free to do whatever I want.
Everyone has to die sometime. And living to be old as fuck is no life at all.

If I won the lotto for say $30 million I could then just become a total recluse like Howard Hughes and not worry, but that probably won't happen.
Since I decided to do that the stress is gone and I am more relaxed as I no longer have to worry about some future event.

So, they'll make 300k pre-tax until they are 60-65 then take off for retirement.

Everything is paid for, 6k a month + savings and investments then a fat health care policy to boot. Gubment employees have it pretty easy, if you can put up with not acomplishing anything in the public sector.

Working for the Feds is really the only way to retire now, unless you are some rich dude on Wall Street working at Goldman Sachs.

The entire population of the USA is fucked. This country is like Brasil now.

I MIGHT inherit about a million or so.
If I do I will no doubt have a legal battle with my estranged redneck brother over the money.

If I ever get it I will immediately move to South America.

a million dollars isn't what it used to be. Anyone with less then 400k in the 401k is going to end up working until they are 70+

gen X is fucked, even once the boomers leave because they'll bring in all sorts of H1B's, Chinese, and other forenigners for the middle to upper mgmt jobs.

Who the fuck is going to hire you at age 70? No one.
Hell, you can't even get a job at age 50 these days..fuck that..make that age 21.
There are zero jobs now for new graduates.

If you want to live in a desirable city (or retirement destination), you'd need at least $2-4 million, depending on how you spend.

If you have say $1 million you could move to Argentina and retire there and live off the $1 million for a long fucking time.
Forget retiring in the USA.

working for the Feds gets you a pension. That is one way.

I am considering getting a MCDBA then work for the FEd gov for the pension.

Private sector is dogshit.
There is a guy who living in my moms condos, he worked for the Fed government, retired in the 1960's or 70's, he is in his 90's, retired for like 40 years, with government pension.

So put money into the stock market and some day you wil.l magically be a millionaire.

no.
I have thought about working in South America in like Buenos Aires though.
It is bigger than NYC. Lots of "white people" there.

I read that the laid off Wall Streeters are moving there because it is cheap, lots of hot babes and a huge party in a city bigger than NYC.

Who cares if you believe it or not.
with a full blown MCDBA you will make 60k a year and have many job oppertunities.
You won't even need a degree at most places if you have the MCDBA, which is better than a degree in IT

A Certified Microsoft SQL dba can easily pull down $120k in some markets, with experience, with just the certs you can easily make $60k.

Big time, plus I was maxing out my 401k putting it into the S&P, which did nothing but lose money.

By the time they took out all the deductions and taxes I got 1/2 of my gross income.
I make around $45k a year now and get about the same net as I did making $75k
