BTW: Due to very close to same last name, I remember CHERYL PREWITT, miss America 1980. At age 11 a horrifying automobile accident left Cheryl with a scarred face, a body cast and a wheelchair, all of which she overcame to become Miss MSU, Miss Starkville, Miss Mississippi, and Miss America.

you will see that miracles were not doled out just all the time.
Specifically, in ancient Israel, before Jesus commenced His minisitry,..... miracles were not being done.
The ancient Jews of His era were in the same position as us,.. that is, they had read of previous miracles,.... but none were being done right then for them.
So no doubt among the ancient Jews were skeptics just like you.
But then in God's own good timing,... the time came and Jesus commenced His ministry,... and the miracles were for a purpose. Namely to confirm that Jesus was/is the Messiah.
There will again be a time of widespread miracles. And they will have grand purpose. To confirm Jesus's cutting edge truth that Jesus wants spread and believed.
